From 7th German Division to the MLS

Julian Gressel, a midfielder from Middle Franconia, Germany, has signed a two-year contract with Inter Miami. This marks a significant milestone in his professional career as he joins one of the most ambitious projects in American soccer. Gressel, 30 years old and hailing from Neustadt an der Aisch, will now play alongside superstar Lionel Messi on the field. Messi, along with other world-renowned players such as Luis Suarez, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba, are part of the Inter Miami roster, making it a star-studded team.

Gressel's journey to this point has been noteworthy. He began his football career at TSV Neustadt an der Aisch and spent seven years in the youth system of SpVgg Greuther Fürth (2nd Bundesliga club). After his youth career, he played for his hometown club TSV Neustadt/Aisch in the Landesliga and FC Eintracht Bamberg in the Regionalliga Bayern before moving to the USA in 2013. Over the past decade, Gressel has established himself as a professional player in the States. Married to an American and having acquired US citizenship in November 2022; he has also represented the United States in international matches, earning six caps for the national team.

Expressing his excitement about joining Inter Miami, Gressel stated on the club's website: "I am very excited to join such an ambitious club like Inter Miami. I am ready to get to work and use my experience in this league to help my new teammates and this great club achieve their dream of winning more titles."   Gressel brings valuable championship-winning experience to Inter Miami, having won the MLS Cup with Atlanta United in 2018 and with Columbus Crew in the 2023 season.

The new MLS season is set to begin on February 22nd, and Gressel is poised to contribute to Inter Miami's quest for success.
