IFX’s David Andreychuk signed during the summer transfer window with SV Buckenhofen of the German Landesliga. Andreychuk finished the season with BSC Erlangen before agreeing to terms with Buckenhofen.
IFX’s Zack Shiposh and FSV Erlangen-Bruck took on 2. Bundesliga side SpVgg Greuther Fürth in a friendly benefit match this past Wednesday in Erlangen-Bruck. With a relatively good first half for the Bruck eleven, ending the half 1-3, Fürth opened up the second half with two quick goals, opening up the flood gates for their subsequent onslaught. After 90 minutes, Fürth came away with a 10-1 victory.
Zachary Shiposh, a native of Scranton, Pennsylvania who has been with IFX the past 3 years has completed the move from Freie Turner Braunschweig effective immediately.
After trials and subsequent offers from FSV Erlangen-Bruck, FSV Stadeln and SG Quelle Fürth, Canadian midfielder opts for Landesliga side SG Quelle Fürth for the 2013-14 season.
Pletz came to terms with top Landesliga club SC Feucht in May for the 2013-14 season. Pletz has had several appearances already this summer, including a start in their DFB Pokal (German Cup) match against rival Bayernliga side ASV Neumarkt. In a heated match, Pletz netted a spectacular header off a long cross from a set piece on the right flank.
Faerber managed to impress the Bruck coaching staff during his trials and IFX friendly matches. Faerber’s shear size is a huge asset as a goalkeeper in Germany and also has extremely quick hands and good distribution qualities.
Weiss is quite a decorated player having played professionally in Europe for the past 6 years. Before arriving in Germany in October 2011, Weiss played for FK Jelgava in Lativa’s 1st division, including an appearance in the Europa League.
Pro IFX Germany Year player Sebastian Vallejo is headed to El Salvador tomorrow for the next 3 weeks after being invited by the Salvadoran Football Federation to trial for a roster position on the Salvadoran U-20 National team.
VfL Frohnlach played hosts to FC Bayern Munich Reserves on the eve of Easter Sunday in a replay of memorable away victory in Munich (Frohnlach prevailed 1-0).
BZL Mittelfranken Nord play resumed after the winter break as 2nd place Baiersdorfer SV visited 5th place SpVgg Erlangen. With a chance to go top of the table this match was full of emotion. Baiersdorf would not capitalize on this, as they would lose 2-1 on the afternoon, conceding on a 2nd half penalty kick. The spot kick from 11 meters had its fair share of controversy as the initial attempt found the bottom of the right post and was cleared by the defense. The referee would then allow for a second spot kick due to encroachment by a Baiersdorf player.
IFX player Zack Mahon made his Regionalliga debut on March 3rd away to 1 FC Nürnberg as the 26th round of play resumed after the winter break. It was a homecoming of sorts for Mahon (who resides in the city of Nürnberg) in front of approx. 700 Fans at the Grundig Stadium, but one his team would soon want to forget.
After concluding a successful collegiate career at Longwood University, IFX welcomes Zack Mahon. He is a striker from San Antonio, Texas. Mahon received an invitation to preseason from USL club Harrisburg City Islanders. Mahon spent the last season playing with USL PDL side Kitsap Pumas. The Longwood University (Big South Conference) alumni traveled to Europe for the first time in October to undergo a series of trials with German football clubs during his Pro IFX 30 day program.
