Football in Bournemouth

The city is the proud home of professional football club AFC Bournemouth who had risen England's top division, the English Premier League in 2015. The AFC Bournemouth club is based in Kings Park, Boscombe, a suburb of Bournemouth, Dorset, England. For the 2020-21 season, the team competes in the Championship, the second tier of the English football league system. Nicknamed "The Cherries", Bournemouth have played their home games at Dean Court since 1910. Their home colours are red and black striped shirts, with black shorts and socks, inspired by that of Italian club A.C. Milan.

Bournemouth won three promotions in six years to win a place in the first tier of English football for the first time. This was achieved with a second-place finish in League Two in 2009–10, a second-place finish in League One in 2012–13 and a Championship title in 2014–15. The club remained in the Premier League for five seasons before suffering relegation in 2020.

Club Soccer Trials in Bournemouth, UK

The IFX mantra of playing WITH local teams in competitive leagues is no different in our Bournemouth program. Each player is placed to train and compete with a British football club according to their individual ability and performance during their soccer trials in England in the first weeks of the program.

Shortly after arrival, participants begin trials within various IFX partner English clubs in Bournemouth to be evaluated by their trainers. Participants may undergo several weeks of trials before a club ultimately decides to offer a spot on their team. In most cases, participants are placed within 2-4 weeks with a club. In some cases, it can be much quicker, or a bit longer, but the average is 2-4 weeks.

Host Families in UK

All Host families are handpicked and many have hosted international students before. Our program partners carry out a strict host family screening process, to ensure the suitability of the families and the welfare of the students, and provides 24 hour emergency service. Both families and students receive a profile on each other, as well as personal information to ensure a comfortable and well matched visit.

Host families often have the responsibility of providing the participant with the experience of being "of" the host country. That can mean exploring attributes of the local culture, such as holidays, traditions, and religious celebrations. Itt can also mean showing typical day-to-day routines.

English families can be distinguished by their love for outdoor activities. Swimming, bicycling, fishing or trekking throughout beautiful landscapes surely will be activities you could enjoy with your new host family.

What to do during your leisure time in the UK?

Here in Bournemouth, we’re blessed with a warm microclimate but we can’t guarantee it for all 365 days of the year. So, many of the attractions are designed to enjoy in warm weather as well as in the rain. Bournemouth boasts opportunities to experience indoor climbing and high wires, as well as museums and galleries meaning you’ll be able to have a great time whatever the weather might be.

Bournemouth’s famous universities and reputation for digital industries have made it a natural home for art and culture. Exhibitions are held throughout the year in its world class venues and there are museums to help you uncover the past, including a clifftop treasure trove!

Last but not least, 2,000 acres of parks and gardens in the town centre are listed as grade II and date back to the Victorian era.
